NEGLIGENCE OF DUTY

                                                       Mishap in the passenger Train
Such failure of the under frame & trolly assembly on the run is never heard of in the history of the Railways since its inception. Why such accidents happen when we have regular chartered program of inspection of the rolling stock and timely maintenance by officers at different levels? This type of failure shows that the departmental officers & men are not committed to their tasks and take everything for granted. This kind of lethargy on the part of the maintenance staff is telling upon the performance and of the safety of railway journey. The public will lose confidence in the railway travel.
Being a retired railway officer, I feel thoroughly disturbed in my mind to have heard such grave situation in the railway system. That means the close knit railway operations in coordinating the other departments is in disarray! The dent caused due to this major failure will damage the whole FABRIC of the Railway organization. The Divisional and headquarters level officers must take serious concern on such disastrous situation.
The system of maintenance of the rolling stock is unique and this system was followed “biblically” by the officers and staff during the past. I have never come across such gross negligence during my railway service from 1956 to 1992.
Revamping of the whole set up of the Mechanical department is necessary to avoid occurrences of this nature in future. It is requested that the regular maintenance schedules & charts handed to us by our predecessors must be strictly followed in Style & Use by all concerned.
